I believe that knowing your physiology, the very science that makes you who you are, is the best thing you can do to optimize your health, bolster your performance, look and feel your best, and enjoy a longer and more fulfilling lifespan.
My dedication to this field derives from a very personal place, as it was through my own health improvement journey and love for the sciences that I stumbled upon the enhanced state of consciousness between mind, body, and spirit where healthy intentions met actionable steps and lasting, positive lifestyle change. I call this “physiological intuition,” and to me, it’s a human right that everyone should enjoy.
Now, after ongoing years of study and time-in-the-trenches, access to leading experts and some of the latest tools and tech, a world-class team, and a bottomless well of passion in my quiver, I am fully dedicated to you and your personal scientific self-discovery.

“Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.” – Theodore Roosevelt

“The body is still an integral part of who we are, and it is important that we ensure its health and good shape. But this is just so the body will cooperate with the dreams of the soul.” – Rabbi Avraham Edelstein, The Human Challenge, p.39
The very core of our beings are encapsulated in similar bodily structures. Our essence is uniqueness, but there is unity among us. For me to better understand the core of my being, I have found it helpful to know my physiology. Connect with me to discuss all things morning routines, menstruation, sunlight, and shift work. Together we can interpret and implement the most up to date science in authentic ways !

Being diagnosed with a chronic disease called autoimmune hepatitis type 2 at the age of 19, and doctors unable to explain the root cause for it, Steffen always felt left alone and unsatisfied with the standard treatment of “just take the pill and it will be ok”. But taking cortisone and immunosuppressive medication for about 5 years was the only solution presented to him, and as he didn’t know better at that time, he did as doctors suggested.
Yet, he knew it wasn’t what felt “right”, and he started looking for other options for a cure. After finishing his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry, he made a move across the world, from Germany to Down-Under. During his time living abroad in Australia and traveling South East Asia afterward, Steffen questioned his own beliefs about himself, his conditioning, and his understanding of life. He came in touch with different ways of healing from Yoga and Ayurveda, to Traditional Chinese and Tibetan Medicine for the first time in his life. These healing techniques were in alignment with Steffen’s understanding of health as a holistic endeavor, including food as medicine and the Mind-Body-Spirit connection, and therefore fully resonated with him.
In a beautiful connection with his interests for all of these things, and at a time when Steffen realized he wanted more in life than “just a career”, he made a big decision he was struggling with a lot during the year 2019 and major depression. After this crisis, Steffen then started studying again – now in an M.Sc. Exercise Science and Coaching program at German Sport University, Cologne. From there on, he took the initiative and decided profession-wise for one of the most rewarding, and most challenging paths, a path of never-ending adaptation: So, he became a health & performance coach.
Through individual assessment of the current status quo via questionnaires, DNA and epigenetic testing as well as bloodwork and biometrics, Steffen wants to paint the picture of where his client currently stands – physiologically and psychologically. From there on, he wants to help clients to narrow down the things that currently put the most burden on their health and develop a strategy on how to tackle those. Therefore the strategy most likely starts with making changes in one’s diet and some lifestyle adjustments on top, according to the results of the questionnaires and DNA testing. Same as in his personal healing journey, where he could support his immune system via restoration of the gut function, he will address one’s gut health first, as a well-functioning gut microbiota is a fundament for one’s immune system, neurotransmitter production, and ultimately health.
With the #KnowYourPhysio®-team Steffen wants to leverage his specific traits and bring them to the table. One of them is e.g. being particular and focusing on the details. Therefore, he functions as a sort of “quality controller” in the team. Another of his traits is being loyal and authentic. As a result, he values true and honest connections with people and always wants their best, even though this might mean bringing up the things they don’t want to hear initially. In the end, Steffen wants to be the one supporting people to overcome their challenges in regard to chronic energy depletion and low drive, by leveraging modern technology, personalized approaches, and individual connection.
My journey in understanding the determinants of human health first required me to heal my own issues. Being a child of immigrants, raised in an upper-middle-class household, I have a funny mix of innate ambition and comfort – like a lot of my clients. With that said, my mom was mentally ill and passed away when I was 17, and as a consequence, I grew up in a house with a lot of trauma and anxiety, with resulting stomach pain, sleep issues and emotional distress.
To heal, psychotherapy and even pharmacology has helped, a lot. However, one hour of therapy cannot fully touch on the day-to-day actions needed to have good days. Trying to solve my own issues, I learned that most of life is lived in the mundane – movement, sunlight, sleep, work, eating. Many of us really compromise one or many of these because of work or family stressors, and these little decisions really add up.
I love helping others get stable and then thrive in each area of their life, all of which affects health. My education through the Institute of Functional Medicine, and my background in coaching, training & business development inform my work.
